Abstract Phenol formaldehyde resin (PFR) was coated on the surface of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by a simple one-pot hydrothermal approach. The coating did not ruin the nanotube sidewall, and its shell thickness was finely controlled on the nanometer scale by adjusting the amount of monomer. Silver nanoparticles were attached onto the PFR@CNT composites followed by the in-situ redox of AgNO(3) and as-prepared PFR/CNTs through hydrothermal treatment. (C) 2011 Elsevier Masson SAS.
