Title Screening of priority chemicals for reproductive hazards
Authoring Organization Borriston Laboratories
Publisher Text National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
Abstract The objective of this work was to determine the effect of nine chemicals on selected reproductive parameters in pregnant white mice. The nine chemicals were diethylene glycol diethyl ether, ethylenethiourea, sodium selenite, ethylene glycol dimethyl ether, diethylene glycol dimethyl ether, triethylene glycol dimethyl ether, p-nitrophenol, dimethyl phthalate, and naphthalene. The study was divided into two parts: (1) Determination of a Maximum Tolerated Dose (MTD) based on adult mortality and weight loss, and (2) A Reproductive Study in which the MTD dose was administered to pregnant SPF CD-1 mice. Both the MTD and reproductive portions of the investigation were completed in blocks of three chemicals each or a total of three blocks for the nine compounds.
